Moving my security system
All the Blue by ADT security components are portable, can easily be set-up, and configurable exclusively for your new home. If your new home happens to be larger than your current home, you can add more sensors or components and install them yourself to make sure your home is fully protected and secured.
Here are the steps you should take to ensure your home security transitions smoothly to your new location.
- You should contact Blue by ADT approximately one week prior to moving and provide us with the following information:
- Address (including street, city, state, and ZIP code)
- Township
- County
- Closest cross street
- Verify emergency contacts
- Emergency contacts can be updated at any time through the online web portal or mobile application.
This will allow us to verify the new address and research this location for permits.
- The day you are ready to move your system contact Blue by ADT so we can place your system in a moved status. When placing your status in move status this will prevent the system from sending any alarms to the monitoring company during your move process.
- Now that your security system has been placed in a move status, you can start collecting all the components of your system from around your home and pack them safely to transport them for the move.
- Once you have arrived at your new location, please begin setting up your system. You will need to contact us once the base is connected to your router and your internet service is active so that Blue by ADT can complete the move process. (Note: If you are a cellular primary customer the system will need to connect to a local cell tower to complete your move process)
- Once your permit requirements are satisfied, if applicable, your system will re-enter a monitored status.
