OVERVIEW

Our standard sensors are unique because they can monitor both interior and exterior doors, as well as windows, drawers, closets, cabinets, gates, and anything else that opens and closes. Homeowners use sensors creatively to keep track of when doors open, when pets come and go, or even to know if babysitters or nosey visitors open drawers and medicine cabinets. They also add sensors to the liquor cabinet to keep teenagers out, or use them to trigger a camera to capture photos and video anytime a door is opened. Sensors can chime or be silent, and you can customize what they trigger. For example, exterior sensors can be programmed to sound the alarm, while interior sensors can just send text and email alert messages to you. You can also set entry and exit delays for door sensors, or temporarily bypass a sensor, for example, to keep the window open while the alarm remains armed.

HOW TO SETUP DOOR/WINDOW SENSORS

Preprogrammed sensors have unique properties built in. Door sensors have an entry delay of 30 seconds, and an exit delay of 60 seconds. Window sensors have an entry delay of 0 seconds. Ensure you place them in the correct locations.  Once you have determined the appropriate location and orientation of the Bracket and Magnet, use the double-sided tape to mount the sensor to the door/window.
WHEN POSSIBLE, PLACE THE BRACKET ON THE STATIONARY FRAME OF THE DOOR OR WINDOW, AND PLACE THE MAGNET ON THE DOOR OR WINDOW ITSELF.
Note: Various orientations between the Bracket and Magnet may be used as long as 3/4” distance is not exceeded. Click here to view the standard sensor components.

    • Note: If “SENSOR OUT OF RANGE” is displayed, the Sensor is too far away from the closest Grid Controller (Base, Console, Grid Extender or Cellular Gateway):
  • Edit Sensor Name (Optional)
  • To change Sensor Name, press DELETE key to remove default name
  • Using keys on Console keypad, type in desired name

SOLUTION TO STANDARD SENSOR - "LOW BATT" (LOW BATTERY)

If you are receiving the error message “Low Bat” or “Lost” you may need to replace the battery if:
  • You have removed and reseated Sensor and problem occurs again within 7 days
  • The Sensor has been installed for more than one year. You will need to use battery CR2450
  • If you have replaced the battery in your Door/Window Sensor and you still see the “LOW BAT” or “LOST” error message on your Console, you may need to delete the sensor and re-add it to your system.
To Delete a Sensor:
  • Press MENU
  • Scroll to Security Setup and press SELECT
  • Enter Master Code
  • Scroll to Sensors and press SELECT
  • Scroll to the sensor you want to delete and press SELECT
  • Scroll down to DELETE and press SELECT

SOLUTION TO STANDARD SENSOR - "TMPR" (TAMPER)

TMPR stands for “Tamper” which indicates that your sensor is not sitting in the bracket correctly.
  • Press on Sensor to check that it is properly installed. If you fixed the issue, the “TMPR” message should disappear. If it continues to read "TMPR" remove the Sensor, wait 10 seconds, and replace Sensor back into bracket. Alternatively, you can check to make sure the tamper switch is working. You can do this by holding down the gray depression switch.

SOLUTION TO STANDARD SENSOR - "OPEN"

If your door or window Sensor reads “Open” when it is actually closed, you may have installed the sensor improperly. Start by checking that the Bracket and Magnet are no more than ¾ inch apart. If they are, go back and repeat Sensor setup steps. Make sure Sensor placement is correct.
You can also check to see if Sensor extension is set by following these steps:
  • Press MENU and scroll to Security Set Up
  • Enter Master Code
  • Scroll to Sensors and press OK
  • Select Sensor you are checking and press SENSOR EXTENSION
  • Select Sensor Only (open/close door assign)
  • SOLUTION TO TROUBLE CONDITION - SENSOR NOT FOUND
If your system cannot detect a Sensor, the Console may display: SENSOR OUT OF RANGE.   If this occurs, follow the steps below:
  • Isolate Sensor: Remove Sensor from Bracket and set-up a different Sensor to the same Bracket. If additional Sensors do not work, proceed to Step 2
  • Add a Grid Controller: If Sensor cannot be set-up or becomes “Lost,” your home may need additional Grid Controllers such as a Console, Grid Extender, or Cellular Gateway to expand wireless coverage
  • Remove battery for 1 minute and replace. Then re-add Sensor
  • Replace battery
  • Take Sensor out of room and try again.
If this does not work, try another sensor in that bracket. If it still doesn’t work, call Support at 877-464-7437
