Overview
Before you can set up an Alexa skill, make sure your Alexa device is properly prepared. Follow the instructions that came with your Alexa-enabled device, and be sure it is turned on, connected to Wi-Fi, and that you are logged into the Alexa mobile app with your Amazon credentials.
Setting up your Blue by ADT home security skill
- Launch your Amazon Alexa app, go to Menu > Skills and Games > search and select Blue by ADT.
- Select “Enable Skill.”
- The Alexa app will prompt you to log in with your Blue by ADT username and password to link accounts.
- Once the accounts are linked, you may now use Alexa to arm and disarm your Blue by ADT system. (Note: A list of sample commands are listed below.)
- You can also discover devices by going to the navigation bar and selecting Devices > “+.”
Using Alexa
Now the Alexa skill for Blue by ADT is enabled. You may now say “Alexa, arm instant,” or “Alexa, turn on my front door light.”
Examples of device commands for Alexa
Blue by ADT system
- “Alexa, arm my home in night mode.”
- “Alexa, is my security system armed?”
Lights, bulbs, switches, plugins:
- “Alexa, turn on the living room lamp.”
- “Alexa, turn off the living room lamp.”
Dimmers:
- “Alexa, set living room to 50%.”
Outlets
- “Alexa, turn on the bedroom lamp.”
- “Alexa, turn off the garage fan.”
Door locks
- “Alexa, lock the front door.”
- “Alexa, unlock the garage door.”
