Overview

Your security system allows you to add locks that are Z-Wave devices. Z-Wave locks allow you to remotely lock and unlock your home from your mobile or web applications. Some also allow codes to be used to unlock the door without a key. With our rules engine (coming soon) you can do set up your system to arm the system when the door is locked, to disarm the system when you come home, or to schedule your home be locked at the end of the night to ensure you're secure.

Adding a Device

To add a Z-Wave lock, go to Settings > Devices > Click on the add button and then select Locks. The base will then go into inclusion mode and you will be prompted to follow your manufacturers instructions to put the device into inclusion mode. Once the device is added you will hear a confirmation beep from your base and you will be brought to a screen to name the device.

Controlling a Device

All of your locks will be on a card on your mobile or web application dashboard. Through this card you will be able to lock and unlock your lock from your application.

Removing a Device

To remove a device, go to Settings > Devices and choose your device. You can then delete it by clicking remove and then following your manufacturers directions to put the device in exclusion mode. If a device is not on the network, you may fail the remove and then be prompted to remove the failed device. This will remove the device from the network without it being present. If you would like to add your device to another system, then you will need to reset the device per the manufactures instructions. You can use the general exclusion for resetting devices as well under Settings > Devices > Going to your base > Selecting advanced settings and then clicking General Exclusion.

Replacing a Device

To replace a device, go to Settings > Devices > Choose Your Device and then select Replace Device. You will first be prompted to click on the device you are replacing. If it is not on the network you will be prompted to remove the failed device. After the first device is removed, you will be prompted to add your new device by following the manufacturers instructions to add a device. Once the replace is confirmed, then your device will then work as your other device did with rules. If you attempt to replace a device with a different type of device, for example replacing a lock with a light, then your rules will no longer work for that device.

Low Battery

Locks are battery operated devices that also report battery life. You will see this on the lock card for each lock.

Offline Devices

If your device battery dies or, if it is lost from the network, then it will be listed as offline. Some devices also may be listed offline if they don't regularly report their status to the base. To correct this issue, first try to control the lock in the UI to see if it can be controlled and will begin reporting again. If the device does not react to your control, then you should check the device to ensure it has power. If the device has power and is still not on the network, you should remove and re-add or attempt to replace the device to re-add it to the Z-Wave network. If a device is regularly going offline, it may also be out of range. To correct this you can buy a lamp module, appliance module or a switch to put between the failing device and the base to increase the range of the network.
