Overview
Honeywell’s Model 5808W3 is a 3V lithium powered, photo electronic smoke/heat detector can be paired to your security system to trigger a fire alarm. If this sensor is triggered the Base will sound the alarm siren for fire. This detector must be tested and maintained regularly.
Installing a smoke detector
Remove the Smoke detector and related components from the box and physically install the device according to the manufacturer’s printer instructions.
- Note: It is important to follow the manufacturer's printed instructions regarding placement of the device (location), installation (mounting) and battery activation (including removal of the battery tab insulator paper) prior to moving on to the next step involving integration of this device with your security system.
Once the mounting bracket is secured to the ceiling, attach the Smoke Sensor into it.
Changing the name of a smoke detector
To change the settings of your Smoke Detector, use your Touchpad (if included) or login into the web portal, iOS or Android app and go to Settings (the top right gear on apps) > Devices. Under Sensors, select the specific Sensor Name to edit the name and sensor settings.
Placing the smoke detector
The Smoke detector must be within 30 ft. of the base or repeater from Blue by ADT.
First determine a location to install the mounting bracket on the ceiling or wall (if permitted by local ordinances)
Turn the detector in a clockwise direction in the mounting bracket until clicks into place.
Test the Smoke detector after installation.
- There is a recess test switch located on the detector housing.
- Push and hold the recess test switch for a minimum of 5 seconds. You may use an Allen key or a small screwdriver.
