Overview

Glass break sensors are used in rooms where there are a number of windows or glass patio doors. The sensor listens for the sound of glass breaking and then alarms in the event of an intruder coming through the windows or doors. Glass breaks can be used in some installations in placement of window sensors when there are a large number of windows in the room or it can be used as a secondary detection method for first level windows in the event a burglar comes through the window versus opening it.

Installing a glass break sensor

To install a glass break sensor, go to Settings > Devices and click the plus button in the top right corner of the column. Select sensors, and then choose glass break. Follow the instructions on the screen to add the device to the system.

Changing the name of a glass break sensor

To change the settings of your Glass Break Sensor, use your Touchpad (if included) or login into the web portal, iOS or Android app and go to Settings (the top right gear on apps) > Devices. Under Sensors, select the specific Sensor Name to edit the name and sensor settings.

Placing the glass break sensor

Glass break sensors should be installed within 10 ft of the windows or doors you are trying to cover. The sensor should be mounted on the ceiling and there should be no large objects between the sensor and the window or door you are protecting.
