Door and window sensors allow you to monitor the entry points of your home. We recommend you place a sensor on every entry point of your home for complete protection. You can purchase extra sensors and add them to your system at any time. If you have sliding glass doors, you may want to add a Glass Break Sensor. Setting up your door/window sensors
Sensors included with your kit
To set up the door/window sensors in your kit, remove them from the box labeled “Door & Window Sensors” and go through the following steps:
Each sensor has a clear plastic battery tab that you need to pull to activate. The tab prevents battery power from being drawn prior to setup. Remove the tab from each sensor.
Test the sensor by placing the provided magnet against the side of the sensor with 3 raised lines. Separate the sensor from the magnet—at least 4” (inches) apart from each other. If the sensor has been correctly activated, you will hear a chime from your base.
Adding new accessory door/window sensors
To add additional door/window sensors, or if you removed one, go to Menu (the two lines in top left of the app) > Devices > Click on the + button at the top of the list of devices > select Sensors > then select SlimDoor Window Sensors. Follow the instructions on the screen to pair the sensor.
Placing door/window sensors
Determine the placement and orientation of the sensors and magnets on your doors or windows.
The sensor has 3 raised lines on one side. In the center of the magnet you will see 1 raised line.
You must place the magnet against the side of the sensor that has the 3 raised lines.
Various orientations between the sensor and magnet may be used as long as you do not exceed a distance of 1/2” (inch)
There are 2 options for securing your sensors:
If you wish to use secure tape, you can adhere the tape to the back of the sensor and to the back of the magnet, and stick them on the door or window, and the frame, as described above.
OR
If you wish to mount your sensor with the provided screws, mark the location of the screw holes for the sensor and magnet with a pen or pencil. You may need to drill a 3/32’’(inch) pilot hole for the screws. Detach the sensor and the magnet from their screw brackets, then secure the screws through the brackets until flush with the surface. Next, clip the sensor and magnet into their brackets.
Place the sensor on the door or window frame (the stationary part of the door or window).
Place the magnet on the door or window (the moving part of the door or window).
Be sure the 3 raised lines on the side of the sensor are lined up with the single raised line on the magnet.
Changing the name and settings
To change the settings of your door/window sensors, log in to the web portal, iOS or Android app and go to Menu (the two lines in top left of the app) > Devices > Sensors > select the desired sensor’s name to edit the name and sensor settings.
Placement and entry delay
The placement setting for door/window sensors is used for entry delay purposes, and your icons within the app, your alerts, and your events will differ based on the placement of the sensor. If you select a door sensor, you will notice that the entry delay can be configured to allow you time to enter the building. Window sensors will be set to 0 seconds and not be configurable due to windows not being a typical entry way. If you would like the flexibility of an entry delay, but don't want to display a sensor as a door, you can also choose "Other."
Stay & Away: Sensors will be monitored in both Stay and Away modes
Away Only: Sensors will be monitored only when the system is armed Away
Convenience: Sensors can be configured to chime or create a local alarm when the sensor is faulted (this can be used for cabinets or drawers that do not require emergency assistance when opened)
Chime
Chimes are used to alert the user audibly when a door or window is opened. If desired, you may turn off the chimes by setting the toggle to “off”.
Advanced settings
Advanced settings give customers flexibility to take advantage of sensor features or to toggle features that may be required for false alarm prevention.
Swinger Shutdown- This setting allows users to register sensors in the system-wide swinger shutdown feature. Swinger shutdown is a false alarm prevention tool that prevents alarms from going off for a specific sensor if it was tripped multiple times in a 5-minute window. The system default for the number of times a sensor can trip before swinger shutdown kicks in for that sensor is 2. This can be modified in the security system’s settings, under Advanced Settings.
Abort Window Time- The abort window time is a false alarm prevention feature that gives a user 30 seconds before the alarm is sent to the central monitoring station. This gives the user a little longer to disarm the system in case the alarm was in error. If you would like the alarm to immediately go to the central monitoring station, you must toggle this off.
Cross Zoning- When cross zoning is enabled on a sensor, that sensor alone will not trip the alarm. For the alarm to sound, another non-cross zoned sensor must be triggered as well. For example, if you have a sensor on your front door with cross zoning enabled and a motion sensor in the living room without cross zoning enabled, opening the front door won’t trip the alarm unless someone also walks in front of the motion sensor.
