You will be able to control your Blue by ADT smart home devices like lights, locks and thermostats. You will also be able to control your security system (arming and disarming) using your voice with Google. If you have any cameras on your system, you will be able to live stream directly on the Nest Hub (2nd gen) or Nest Hub Max screen.

  5. Sign in to your Blue by ADT account.

Which voice commands can I use to control my Blue by ADT system and Nest Hub (2nd gen) or Nest Hub Max?
With Google, you can control select Blue by ADT-connected home automation devices with just your voice.

Try saying "Hey Google” followed by one of the commands listed below:
“Show the doorbell camera”
“Turn on the kitchen lights”
“Set the thermostat to 70 degrees”
“Brighten the living room lights 50%”
“Arm my system to stay (or away)”
“Lock (or unlock) the front door”

How can I talk to Google to control my Blue by ADT smart home devices?
ADT now works with Hey Google, so you can use your voice to control your security system and your smart home devices. Just say “Hey Google” on your Google Assistant-enabled device to get started. Right now, you can arm and disarm your system, lock your doors and control your Blue by ADT compatible smart home devices, like your lights and thermostat. Also, if you have any Blue by ADT cameras on your system, you can stream live video on the display of the Nest Hub (2nd gen) or Nest Hub Max. Ask Google to arm your system or lock your door when you come home. Or ask if you left the hall light on or to dim the bedroom lights. You can even ask what the current temperature is in your home and ask to stream your indoor, outdoor or doorbell camera.

Here are some example commands you can say to control your Blue by ADT-connected home.

Just say “Hey Google” followed by one of the example commands provided below:
 “Turn on the <light name>”
“Set the temperature to 75 degrees”
“Turn up the thermostat by 5 degrees”
“What's the thermostat set to?”
“Arm <security system name>”
“Lock the <lock name>”

Why don’t I see my Google Assistant-enabled device in my Blue by ADT app?
Your Google Assistant-enabled device won’t show as a paired device in your Blue by ADT app, and you can’t access or control it through your Blue by ADT app. You can only access it through the Google Home app or by using your voice on your Google Assistant-enabled device.

Do my Blue by ADT device names in the Google Home app have to match what’s in my Blue by ADT app and web portal?
No. Once you link your Blue by ADT system in the Google Home app, you can rename your devices. Whatever you name your device is the name you’ll use when asking Google to help get things done. For example, “Hey Google, turn on the kitchen lights”. The name, ‘kitchen lights’, will remain the same in your Blue by ADT app.

If I add a Blue by ADT device to my system after I link it in the Google Home app, will the new device sync automatically?
No. Every time you add a Blue by ADT device to your system and want to link it to Google Assistant, you’ll need to say, “Hey Google, sync my devices” and it will add it to your Google Home app.

What if I already have a Google Assistant-enabled device?
You can link Blue by ADT in the Google Home app at no extra cost, and control it with your voice using your existing Google Assistant-enabled device.

Do I need to do anything in my Blue ADT app to connect to Google Assistant?
No. You won’t need to access your Blue by ADT app to enable the Blue by ADT service in your Google Home app. However, you will need your login information to link the devices.

Do I need an internet connection to use my Blue by ADT system with Google Assistant-enabled devices?
Yes, your Google Assistant-enabled devices need to be connected to the internet. Pro tip: connect the device to the same Wi-Fi network that your smart phone or tablet is connected to.

How do I invoke Google Assistant?
Google Assistant responds to the phrase “Hey Google”.

Can I group lights so they all turn on at the same time?
Yes. Once devices are visible in the Google Home app on the device screen, you can group them by adding them to rooms. For example, you can create a group of lights for the kitchen, then say: “Hey Google, turn on the kitchen lights”.

Can my Google Assistant-enabled device, such as Nest Hub (2nd gen) or Nest Hub Max perform multiple commands in a single phrase? For example, “Hey Google, turn on the kitchen lights and turn up the thermostat to 70 degrees?”
Google Assistant understands one command at a time. For example, start by saying “Hey Google, turn on the kitchen lights”. Then say, “Hey Google, set the thermostat to 70 degrees”.

Can you delete a single Blue by ADT device in the Google Home app once it is linked?
No, you will need to unlink and link the device again in the Google Home app.

If there are new commands added for Blue by ADT, do I have to unlink and relink to use the new commands?
No, it will update automatically.
