Blue by ADT customers have the option of selecting from self-monitoring or professional monitoring for their equipment. Professional 24/7 monitoring by ADT provides an added level of support, as well as the following benefits:

- ADT-owned and monitoring centers
- Alerts to you for all alarm events
- Authorities notified in the event of an emergency
- Panic and duress modes
- No long-term contracts
With Blue by ADT, there are multiple monitoring statuses you can have for your system. Each one is important to understand so that you and your family can stay safe. Your monitoring status will be shown at the top of the Blue by ADT app’s home screen or at the top of the web portal screen. Below is a list of the monitoring statuses, each with a detailed description:

Not Monitored
- If you’ve signed up for professional monitoring but have not completed the necessary steps to become professionally monitored, this status will appear. To prevent this, ensure you have completed the following steps:
1. Finished your system registration
2. Successfully installed and connected your smart home hub
3. Acquired your permits and sent the details to Blue by ADT
If all of the steps above have been completed and you’re still seeing “Not Monitored”, please contact Support at 877-464-7437.
Practice Mode - Not Monitored
- After all of the steps above have been completed for professional monitoring,your system will go into a 7-day practice mode. This allows you to become familiar with your system, practice arming and disarming, and test the alarm without getting police dispatched to your home.
- Please note, many municipalities require you to go through this 7-day practice period to help eliminate false alarms.
Test Mode - Not Monitored
- As a user, you can put your system into Test Mode for additional testing without police dispatch. Go into the Blue by ADT app or web portal and select Menu > Settings > Monitoring > Monitoring Test Mode. From there, you can select the length of time that you wish you put your system in Test Mode. At any point during testing, you can cancel Test Mode by going back to the Monitoring Test Mode screen.
- Please note, at the end of your selected time period, your system will automatically switch back to being professionally monitored.
Moving - Not Monitored
- One of the great things about the Blue by ADT is that it easily allows you to take your system with you when you move. To inform Blue by ADT that you’re moving, please contact Support at 877-464-7437. Once all information has been received, your app and web portal will show “Moving - Not Monitored” as your status. This allows you to remove all of your devices without having an alarm go off. Once you’ve reinstalled your Blue by ADT system at your new home, contact Support at 877-464-7437 to inform them you’re ready to be professionally monitored again.
- Please note, you may be required to submit new permit information based on the municipality you’ve moved to.
Self-Monitored
- If you’ve chosen to not participate in professional monitoring, this status will appear. This means that no emergency services will be dispatched to your home in the event of an alarm. You are responsible for contacting emergency services in the event of an emergency. If at any point you wish you become professionally monitored, please contact Support at 877-464-7437 or log into your web portal and go to Menu > Settings > Billing > Change Monitoring Plan.
