OVERVIEW
The Cellular Gateway provides an extra layer of protection for your security system. If there are Internet and telephone line outages, your security system can still communicate with the Monitoring Center if you have a Cellular Gateway connected to the system.
The Cellular Gateway can be added to the Security Base V1 or Base V2 using one of the following configurations:
Cellular Primary – Your security system will use cellular communication as the primary method of communication. This option is popular in homes where there is no high-speed Internet connection.
Cellular Backup – Your system will use broadband Internet as the primary communication method. The Cellular Gateway will be a backup method of communication in case of Internet outage.
You can decide which cellular option you want when you sign up for a monitoring package.
The Cellular Gateway relies on 2G GSM cellular signals to communicate. Your home needs to be within the cellular coverage area or it may not be able to send and receive cellular signals. The Cellular Gateway has a battery that lasts up to 24 hours to provide coverage during a blackout. The Cellular Gateway can monitor sensors and protect your home even if the console and base are not working or are broken.
Note: You do not need to sign up for a separate cellular plan with your cell phone company in order to use the Cellular Gateway. Blue by ADT provides the cellular service for the Cellular Gateway. There are specific Blue by ADT monitoring plans which include cellular communication, and you can contact Blue by ADT Customer Support for more information.
