Advanced System Settings

These advanced settings allow customization of your system and can also help prevent false alarms. Most of the following settings can be adjusted by selecting Menu > Settings > Security > Advanced Settings, unless otherwise noted.

Exit delay

This feature gives you time to leave your home before the system is armed into Stay or Away mode. You can select a delay time of 45 seconds, 60 seconds, 90 seconds, 120 seconds, or 240 seconds. This is default set to 60 seconds.

Entry delay

Entry delays are the time between when a sensor is tripped and when the burglary alarm sounds. This can be set differently for each individual sensor and defaults to 30 seconds.

Auto stay

This feature helps prevent false alarms from your motion sensor by preventing you from arming in Away mode while you are still in your home. If the system is armed in Away mode and there is no door opened and closed during the exit delay, your system will automatically arm in Stay mode. By default, this feature is enabled.

Cross-zoning

When cross-zoning is enabled on a sensor, that sensor alone will not trip the burglary alarm. It requires another non-cross-zoned sensor to be triggered as well for the alarm to sound. For example, if you have a front door with cross-zoning enabled and a motion sensor in the living room without cross-zoning enabled, when the front door is opened it would also require the person to walk in front of the motion sensor before tripping the alarm.

Snapshot at login

On the dashboard of your Blue by ADT mobile app or web portal, your cameras will display the most recent snapshot image taken from your camera. By default, when you log in, a snapshot is taken at the camera’s location. This can be disabled by going to Menu > Devices >choosing your camera and disabling "Snapshots at Login."

System swinger shutdown

Swinger shutdown is a false-alarm-prevention tool that stops alarms from continually triggering for a specific sensor if multiple alarms have been tripped within a 5-minute window. The default number of times a sensor can trip is 2 before swinger shutdown takes effect. This can be modified under Security > Advanced Settings

One-touch arming

The security system can be armed without having to enter a user code. All that is required on the app or keypad is to hold down the arming mode you would like to arm the system in. This feature is disabled as a factory default.

Remote-arming exit delay

Enable or disable an exit delay when using a remote arming method such as the app while you are away. This setting is enabled by default.

Abort window time

The abort window is a false-alarm-prevention standard that gives a user 30 seconds before the alarm is sent to the central monitoring station, giving the user a little longer to disarm the system in case the alarm was in error. You can set the alarm to trigger immediately, or choose a different time frame of either 15 seconds, 30 seconds, or 45 seconds.

Weather units

Select Celsius or Fahrenheit for your screen saver when using the security touchpad, or when viewing your dashboard with a camera only account.

Home phone line

Enabling this feature allows your legacy V1 or V2 LifeShield base or LifeShield S30 base to use an analog land phone line as a form of back up for reporting alarms. It is not recommended that you connect a phone line that comes through an internet router.
